Chinese Facial Massage

Debbie DeNardo
Saturday, May 4, 2024
9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
7 CEs
Fee: $170

Stress is reflected in the face when facial muscles become tense and tighten. Unconsciously, we contort our face and creases appear across the surface of the skin as the pressures of the day intensify. Chinese Facial Massage is a relaxing and rejuvenating facial massage taught by a Chinese doctor, Dr. Lilly Fu, to educator Lolita Knight (who has certified Debbie DeNardo). Techniques are learned and experienced that help tone, uplift, remove tension, reduce facial lines and increase circulation to the face. Facial massage can benefit Bells Palsy, facial tics, eye droop, sinus problems and stimulate the lymph drainage system to remove excess fluid and waste products.

This course includes a honey pat segment that involves the application of pure honey, a natural product which is a humectant (meaning it attracts and retains moisture). The techniques in this sequence help to increase skin circulation, ease facial muscle tension, encourage elasticity in the facial fascia, plump fine lines and improve overall skin tone.

Rejuvenation and relaxation strokes (with the use of your choice of another natural product, macadamia, almond or grapeseed oil) further relieve tension in the face, facilitates blood and lymph flow, calms the mind and encourages deep relaxation .

**Special adaptation for Georgia students: This course includes 1 hour of facial acupressure point work which is not acceptable for CE credit in the state of Georgia. Therefore, 8 hours of class time will only earn 7 hours of CE credit. For those who need one more hour to complete their renewal requirements, a complimentary 1 CE hour Introduction to Indian Head Massage class will immediately follow the Chinese Facial Massage class. Attendance is optional. Sign up will be requested after your Chinese Facial Massage registration has been processed. Intro to Indian Head Massage is also NCBTMB and GA approved.

What to bring & special instructions: One set of linens, bolster/pillow, a hand mirror, 2 washcloths, 1 hand towel, a headband (preferably Velcro) to hold hair back from face, 2 medium size bowls (about 1 qt.) to soak washcloths, and a thermal carafe of hot water. Dress comfortably (best to bring a tank top to change into), wear no makeup (or at the very least no foundation) and preferably no contacts.

Fijian Barefoot Massage To Go

Debbie DeNardo
Sunday, May 5, 2024
2 p.m. - 6 p.m.
4 CEs
Fee: $85

Fijian Barefoot Massage To Go is a mobile adaptation of Fijian Massage requiring minimal equipment and supplies. These deep tissue techniques have been handed down from generation to generation in the remote villages of the islands of Fiji. The focus of the class is on the back, shoulders, and gluteals and is great for sporting events, family settings, as well as your massage office. Therapists use different parts of their feet to effectively massage clients who are lying on the floor. It does not include walking on the client’s back. All strokes can be performed while standing, sitting on a chair or sofa, or reclining on the floor. The weight of your leg gauges the pressure. No hands, arms or shoulders are ever used, making it truly a hands-saving technique that can add to your career longevity. In addition, most clients prefer the heel of the foot pressure over that of the elbow. This is a “feets-on” workshop with demonstration and practice.

What to bring & special instructions: A flat sheet for the floor, 3 standard size pillows, 2 large bath towels, 1 hand towel. Please wear loose cotton clothing, but no jeans. T- shirts and lightweight sweatshirts are best and to have a collar if possible. No straps or zippers.

Based on ancient Indian scalp massage, these techniques have been practiced for over a thousand years. The massage is calming yet revitalizing, and focuses on the parts of the body most prone to tension and stress: the upper back, neck, shoulders, face and scalp. Indian Head Massage encourages the deepest relaxation and can help eyestrain and headaches, improve concentration (by improving blood flow), boost hair health, relieve shoulder tension, increase neck mobility, calm the mind and ease emotional stress.

The techniques are delivered with the client fully clothed using a chair or as part of a complete bodywork session using a table. Oil is recommended but optional for the scalp massage. For the table segment students may remove upper garments or wear a tank top as oil is applied to the upper arms, shoulders, neck and upper back. The instructor includes organic  herbal scalp oils from Solavedi. This blissful technique offers gentle relief from physical ailments in addition to general relaxation. Great to add to onsite chair massage, for geriatric clients confined to a wheelchair or as a creative ending to a table massage.

What to bring and special instructions:  One set of linens and bolster/pillow. Please have clean hair and use no hair products on the day of the class.  If you have long hair, please bring a hair accessory to pull it back. Dress comfortably. For the table segment it’s best to bring a tank top to change into.

Feet function as the body’s shock absorbers and are many times the hardest worked of all body parts. Unfortunately, many of our clients experience foot fatigue on a regular basis and a one hour massage session does not allow enough time to pamper and fully address the issues of the feet. Learn and experience a specialized 4-part foot treatment employing 4 different products and massage therapies as follows: 1) foot soak with compression, 2) circular effleurage with abrasives, 3) foot mask with plantar massage and 4) rejuvenating foot massage with lotion.

Benefits of foot massage include the most basic, it feels good! Clients can experience relaxation as well as pain relief. Other general benefits include stress relief, reduction of tension, improved blood circulation, stimulation of the lymphatic system (facilitating the flow of lymph throughout the body), loosening of the feet’s connective tissue to lessen stiffness, and promotion of overall good health. Foot massage can also help fight depression and improve the quality of sleep by helping the body to unwind, which encourages restful sleep.

The client is comfortably seated during this relaxing, 30-40 minute therapeutic process. It can be offered as an add-on service to a full body massage or it can be a focused session on its own. Add it to your menu of services to increase your income and to further benefit your clients.

What to Bring & Special Instructions: 1 dishpan large enough to soak feet, 1 bath towel, 3 hand towels, coffee carafe or pitcher (for warm water rinse), bolster or spa pillow for ankle support, latex or vinyl gloves (optional). Wear loose pants that can be pulled or rolled up and kept out of the water (or a pair of shorts). Bring a pair of clean socks or flip flops to slip on after receiving the treatment.
